the Community with Emergency Demos and Displays, a Classic Car Show and a Police-escorted Cruise
July 21, 2011 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - The Walter P. Chrysler Museum is proudly partnering with the Auburn Hills, Mich. campus of Oakland Community College and the Combined Regional Emergency Services Training (CREST) program for a Safe Families Expo - on the Museum's grounds in Auburn Hills - Saturday, Aug. 13 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. The event is sponsored by Dodge.
The Safe Families Expo is a one-stop opportunity for families to learn the do's and don'ts of handling emergencies of all kinds through a wide range of police, fire and health-related demonstrations and displays. An impressive array of local emergency-response agencies will be on hand to share their expertise with guests of all ages.
The event will also feature an array of the newest models from the Dodge brand's 2011 lineup of all-new or significantly redesigned vehicles. Product specialists will be on hand to greet guests and demonstrate the features that make Dodge an excellent value for American families looking for top performance in all the places that matter -- from power and handling to high-quality, dependable vehicles that deliver unmatched functionality and excellent fuel economy in everyday driving situations.
Safe Families Expo demonstration and display highlights and community partners include:
Arcs & Sparks demonstrations - DTE Energy
Children's fingerprinting - Auburn Hills Police Department
CPR, first aid and other health demonstrations, screenings and information - CREST, Beaumont Health System, Crittenton Hospital and the Red Cross
Emergency preparedness and response - Oakland County Office of Homeland Security and the Salvation Army
Fire extinguisher and gas explosion demonstrations - CREST
Fuel pump safety - Chrysler Academy of Technical Training
Jaws of life demonstrations - Rochester Fire Department and Byers Towing
Smoke house demonstrations- Rochester Hills Fire Department
Vehicle displays:
New and vintage squad cars - Auburn Hills Police Department and the Walter P. Chrysler Museum
New and vintage fire engines - Auburn Hills Fire Department and the Society for the Preservation & Appreciation of Antique Motor Fire Apparatus in America
Emergency vehicle displays - CREST
A classic car show at the Museum is another Safe Families Expo highlight. Show participants are invited to join with guests in new vehicles for a 1:30 p.m. Auburn Hills Police-escorted open car cruise that begins at the Museum and winds through the streets of downtown Auburn Hills, as well as the Chrysler headquarters complex and the seldom-seen-by-the-public CREST facilities. Led by the 2011 Dodge vehicle lineup, the cruise is open to all makes and models of vintage and new vehicles.
Passing through CREST, drivers will see various emergency services training exercises, K-9 unit dog drills and Oakland County Mounted Division horse patrols.
Food concessions, music and self-guided tours of the Walter P. Chrysler Museum will round out the Safe Families Expo festivities.
Admission for the Safe Families Expo, including classic car show participation, is $5 per car with each car receiving a goodie bag with local retailer coupons and valuable information.
