SpeedKore Unveils Insane 1970 Dodge Charger
Hellraiser With 1,000 HP
SpeedKore has unveiled its latest creation, fittingly dubbed the 1970 Dodge Charger Hellraiser.
For many years now, SpeedKore has been producing some remarkable restomods and the Hellraiser is one of its finest. We first wrote about the car back in October 2020 when it was being dyno tested but it has only now been unveiled.
Powering the car is Mopar’s remarkable 7.0-liter Hellephant 426 Hemi Create Engine that delivers a cool 1,000 hp and 950 lb-ft (1,288 Nm) of torque. Coupled to this engine is a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission and a 9-inch Gear Effects Ford rear-end. SpeedKore has fabricated a custom exhaust with new headers for the powertrain while also fitting Magnaflow mufflers.
Like other creations from SpeedKore, the Hellraiser has a lightweight carbon fiber body. The process to create this body began with a blue-light scan of an original 1970 Dodge Charger before a five-axis CNC machine creates exact molds and plugs. SpeedKore then uses its aerospace-grade pre-impregnated carbon fiber and its in-house autoclave to create the new body panels. The carbon has then been topped off with several layers of gloss clear coat.
Found beneath the body is a SpeedKore-designed frame with an integrated 14-point roll cage. The car uses the front suspension architecture from a C6 Corvette and complete with aftermarket parts from Detroit Speed and Woodward. The Hellraiser is also fitted with Penske double-adjustable shocks, aftermarket front and rear sway bars, and six-piston front and four-piston rear Brembo brake calipers. A set of HRE 3-piece wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires have also been installed.
“The entire SpeedKore team is excited to unveil our first Hellephant-powered car,” SpeedKore president Jim Kacmarcik said in a statement. “The Hellephant is the most powerful crate engine ever offered by an OE manufacturer, so it seemed only natural that one would come to power a SpeedKore build. When we found out we would be receiving one of the engines from Mopar, we had already been in talks about a new build, and it seemed like the perfect opportunity to get started. Hellraiser represents the pinnacle of SpeedKore design and engineering, and we’re excited to share this custom build with the world.” |
