- Win A Jeep
More than a few of you have probably dreamed about owning some of the vehicles featured in this magazine over the years. Usually this isn't a possibility for most since money and/or time to build such a rig are rarely available. This time, however, you can do more than just dream. Thanks to the Arkansas Crawlers 4x4 Club, the "Wounded Warrior Jeep" will go to one lucky winner as part of a sweepstakes to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP).
The Arkansas Crawlers 4x4 Club is a family-oriented organization open to owners of all types of 4x4s with all levels of experience. They are members of the Blue Ribbon Coalition and also support the Superlift Off-Road Vehicle Park in Hot Springs, Arkansas, acting as trail guides, providing cleanup and grooming of trails, making new trails, helping organize national events, and more. The club also finds time to go wheeling as a group to local and distant trails. Club members became inspired by the WWP and wanted to do something to help. The concept of a Jeep sweepstakes to benefit the WWP was introduced at a club meeting and became a reality after Superlift Suspension Systems donated an '07 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon to benefit the cause. In the months that followed, many more sponsors joined forces with the Arkansas Crawlers 4x4 Club to create the giveaway Wounded Warrior Jeep shown here.
In addition to the Jeep itself, Superlift also donated a 4-inch Superlift Rockrunner suspension system with all sorts of extras. Mopar contributed a good share as well, including a 440hp 6.1L Hemi engine, a 545RFE auto transmission, and front and rear bumpers. The crew at Burnsville Off Road in Burnsville, Minnesota, donated its time to complete the engine and transmission conversion. A host of other sponsors include Advance Adapters, Tom Wood's Custom Drive Shafts, Interco, Walker Evans Racing, Joey Hutson Artistry, Hi-Lift Jack Company, Power Tank, Katzkin, Warn, American Expedition Vehicles (AEV), and Dynatrac. The $25 sweepstakes tickets will be on sale until November 16, 2008, and are tax-deductible. (Wounded Warrior Project is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.) All of the proceeds from the sweepstakes will be given to the Wounded Warrior Project. A winner will be picked by random drawing on December 1, 2008. A sweepstakes entry form and official rules can be found at www.warriorjeep.org. Information is also available at www.arkansascrawlers.com.
Wounded Warrior Project
Founded on the principle that veterans are our nation's greatest citizens, the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) seeks to assist those men and women of our armed forces who have been severely injured during the conflicts in Iraq, Afghanistan, and other locations around the world. Many of the injuries are traumatic amputations, gunshot wounds, burns, and blast injuries that will retire these men and women from military service. WWP provides tangible support for the severely wounded to help them on the road to healing both physically and mentally. One small contribution, compared with what the warriors have sacrificed, is WWP's signature Backpack Program. WWP delivers care-package backpacks to wounded soldiers in an effort to make their hospital stays more comfortable. WWP backpacks contain essential care and comfort items, such as clothing, toiletries, a calling card, a CD player, and playing cards. WWP also provides wounded military members with unique programs and services, including the Wounded Warrior Disabled Sports Project, peer mentoring and coping services, patient and family support, and the Warriors to Work Program, to name a few. From the battlefield to their bedside, WWP is there to meet the needs of our wounded heroes. For more information on Wounded Warrior Project, check out www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
