RAM Rebel TRX
A prototype for the upcoming RAM Rebel TRX pickup has been scooped from up close while testing.
This particular prototype was spotted by the guys over at TFLnow and it was joined by a fleet of other prototypes from Fiat Chrysler Automobiles at a parking lot somewhere in the U.S. Unlike other recent Rebel TRX prototypes, this one isn’t covered in camouflage and body cladding.
Among the most noteworthy parts we can see on the outside are a hood with a large power dome and two tow hooks poking out of the front. Of course, these parts are not new to the Ram 1500 and have likely just been borrowed from an FCA parts bin when putting together this particular prototype. Other highlights include flared wheel arches and beefy wheels with off-road tires.
When the Rebel TRX does hit the market, it is expected to do so with a plethora of bespoke exterior parts, we’ll probably have to wait until FCA decides to launch its F-150 Raptor rival in order to see them.
Regardless of how it looks, we know the TRX will be a serious performer as it will use the 6.2-liter supercharged ‘Hellcat’ V8. The TRX concept from 2016 had this same engine, but it was detuned to 575 hp. However, the production model is tipped to have the Hellcat’s full 707 hp and 645 lb-ft (875 Nm) of torque, offering blistering performance that will easily surpass that of its main competitor.
