Dodge Double Header
Auction house Mecum usually offers rare and collectible cars, but this custom Dodge Double Header certainly stands out.
Set to be auctioned off next month, the one-off model is the combination of a 1981 Dodge Colt and 1981 Plymouth Champ.
The listing doesn’t go into too many specifics, but the cars were cut in half and then fused together. The resulting combination actually looks pretty good as you can tell someone spent their time creating this and sweated the smallest of details.
As a result, the car looks symmetrical as both ends are almost a mirror image of each other. The model has also been given a red paint job and a black vinyl top.
The two-tone theme is echoed in the cabin as one half has a black interior with black leather seats featuring red piping and a red center insert. The other half is just the opposite as it has a red interior with red leather seats featuring black piping and a black center.
Under the hoods – yes, plural, there are 1.6-liter four-cylinder engines that likely produce 80 hp (60 kW / 81 PS). Regardless of their output, both are connected to a four-speed manual transmission. As you’ve probably guessed by now, the Double Header can be driven from either side.
There’s no auction estimate, but the car is being sold without reserve. It’s part of the larger Dallas Hawkins collection which includes an assortment of American muscle cars including multiple Camaros and Corvettes.
