1970 Dodge Charger R/T Pink Panther Is Classic,
Rare, And Up For Grabs
Properly maintained and well documented classic Dodge Chargers normally fetch six-digit numbers at auctions or on the used car market these days, and this 1970 R/T makes no exception.
Advertised by Mecum for the Kissimmee, Florida, auction that takes place between January 2 and 12, it’s estimated to sell for $175,000 to $250,000. Fans of the FCA-owned brand know that they could buy a new Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody for an MSRP of $76,245, or a wild 2019 Charger SRT Hellcat for $65,795, excluding destination, dealer fees and options – but this is another beast altogether.
A late production car made in 1970, on July 10, and sold new at King Dodge in St. Louis, Missouri, the classic muscle car has had a long and cheerful life, staying more than 15 years in Pam Wellborn’s collection.
Over the years, it has been restored by Dale Gyorvary and properly maintained ever since. It still has the original body panels, factory-correct color called Panther Pink with a contrasting white roof, one of only two built in this spec, and 5-spoke wheels shod in Goodyear Plyglas tires. It rocks the 440/390 HP Six Pack engine, with 2-barrel Holley carburetors, A727 TorqueFlite auto ‘box and an 8.75 differential with 3.23 gearing.
The interior is in mint condition as well, with everything looking very good, including the bucket seats, upholstery and woodgrain trim. The car also features an AM radio, 150 mph speedometer, tinted windshield and a few other gizmos that should help it find a new home. |
