Shortcomings Magically Disappear When Fired Up
You don’t need Doug DeMuro to tell you that the 2020 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody is the craziest sedan on sale in the United States.
With 707 horsepower and 650 lb-ft (881 Nm) of torque churned out by the 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine, the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody delivers insane performance for a large and not-so-light rear-wheel-drive sedan.
According to Dodge, the 2020 Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody does 0-60 mph (96 km/h) in 3.6 seconds and delivers a quarter-mile time of 10.96-seconds. The top speed of 196 mph (315 km/h) is equally impressive. So yes, this four-door sedan is the craziest of its kind.
What you do need Doug DeMuro to do is give you a comprehensive list of all the crazy things present on the Hellcat-powered four-door sedan. Besides the powertrain, the most obvious is the widebody kit which adds 3.5 inches (89 mm) on each side of the car via the chunky fender flares.
This allows for the fitting of 20 x 11-inch wheels that are wrapped in 305/35 ZR20 tires. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, the 2020 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody comes with 305 tires, a ridiculous size for the front wheels.
Speaking of ridiculous, there are also many things that make it obvious that the Hellcat Charger is based on an aging platform dating back to 2006. The video points them out in great detail, but also makes it clear that once you fire up the supercharged HEMI V8 and get going, you’ll forget all about these shortcomings and might never think about them again.
