Brings Retro Style To Gladiator
Earlier this month, Jeep premiered six concept vehicles at the annual Moab Easter Safari in Utah. Five of these were based on the all-new Gladiator pickup truck, and the crew from TFLoffroad recently had the opportunity to test out one of them.
What you’re looking at is the JT Scrambler, based on the Jeep Gladiator Rubicon and outfitted with a host of accessories from the Mopar Performance Parts line as well as an evocative, retro-inspired design which takes after the CJ-8 Scrambler pickup from 1982.
One of the most important points of difference between the JT Scrambler and the Gladiator models currently on the market is the inclusion of a two-inch steel tube sport/roll bar in the bed which features no less than eight tie-down points. Jeep is thinking about putting this bar into production and adding it to its already jam-packed Performance Parts catalog.
What’s not to love about this enhanced Jeep Gladiator?
Elsewhere, the Scrambler includes rear-facing lights that illuminate the bed, orange and silver wheels, a brown top, a new black front bumper with LED driving lights, and a pair of additional lights just in front of the wing mirrors.
As TFLoffroad discovered, the interior of the off-road focused pickup truck is also quite eye-catching thanks to Katzkin Amaretto Brown leather seats, which make the cabin feel that little bit more luxurious than bone-stock versions.
The powertrain used by the Gladiator Rubicon is a 3.6-liter naturally-aspirated Pentastar V6 pumping out 285 hp and 260 lb-ft (352 Nm) of torque that can be paired with either a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic transmission.
