Or $178,000
You cannot buy a Challenger SRT Demon straight from Dodge anymore, as the muscle car has been retired. But depending on where you live, you can still get a used one if you fancy it that much.
A UK car dealer, for instance, will gladly sell you an example for a whopping £140,000. That’s $177,912/€155,972 at today exchange rates, and the asking price is for a 2018MY, with 250 miles (402 km) on the clock.
When the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon was still being produced, it had an MSRP of $84,995 (£66,852/€74,486) in the United States. Still, we’ve seen examples listed for even crazier amounts on the used car market, including one for $250,000 (€219,088/£196,635).
The modern muscle car is a left-hand drive version, as Dodge hasn’t built any right-hand drive examples. It uses a supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI V8, rated at 851 PS (840 hp / 626 kW) and 1,042 Nm (770 lb-ft) of torque, in its top form. On a good day, the Demon can sprint to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 2.3 seconds, and run the quarter mile in 9.65 seconds, at 140 mph (225 km/h), or so Dodge claims.
The dealer has other derivatives of the Challenger in stock too. For a Redeye, they’re asking £119,950 ($152,432/€133,635), whereas a widebody Challenger will set you back for £89,499 ($113,735/€99,710). There’s even a Hellcat on sale, which they’re willing to let go in exchange for £69,950 ($88,892/€77,931).
If you live in Britain and fancy having an American muscle car in your garage, then you may want to check out the Ford Mustang Bullitt. It starts at £47,147 ($59,914/€52,526), benefits from a lot of visual and technical upgrades over the stock model, and uses the 5.0-liter V8 engine of the Mustang GT, which pushes out 459 PS (453 hp / 338 kW) and 529 Nm (390 lb-ft) of torque.
