Lake Sand Dunes
The 2018 Jeep Wrangler has been spied undergoing testing at the Silver Lake Sand Dunes in northern Michigan.
Recorded by a JL Wrangler Forums member, the short clips give us our first look at how the model will perform off-road. While there isn't much to see, the Wrangler doesn't have any problems as it tackles some water puddles and plays in the sand.
Expected to be unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November, the redesigned Wrangler will have an evolutionary design which incorporates a number of lightweight aluminum components. The model is also slated to have a more upscale interior as well as an optional power sliding hardtop.
Engine options remain unconfirmed but previous reports have suggested the Wrangler will be offered with up to three different engines. Choices are rumored to include a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder and an upgraded 3.6-liter V6 which currently produces 285 hp (212 kW) and 260 lb-ft (352 Nm) of torque. The latter engine is expected to come with a start/stop system while a 3.0-liter V6 diesel is slated to arrive in late 2019.
The traditional Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited will be joined by a new pickup truck variant which is being billed as a modern day Scrambler.
