The New Viper ACR
Despite being almost 20 years apart, these two remain very similar in terms of their recipe that consists of a big-capacity V10 up front pushing power to the rear wheels and to hell with trivial things as practicality or Teutonic quality.
This comparison test was put together by Doug DeMuro, who brought his own 1997 Viper GTS to see how it fares against the much newer Viper ACR. One could argue, as DeMuro does here, that spotting the differences between the two models is very easy, both outside and in. However, the basic shape of the car remains nearly identical, which is something most Viper fans probably appreciate.
Still, with the 2016 Viper ACR you get all sorts of usable everyday on-board technologies that the old Viper GTS couldn't even dream of offering. Also, DeMuro argues that the ACR, despite being a heavily track-focused car, is a lot more easy to drive daily than the old GTS.
Moreover, the newer ACR is not only easier, but also much quicker and much better balanced, which is what you want to hear when it comes to a sports car that's meant to break track records everywhere it goes.
