Gets Remote Access Features
Chrysler’s first plug-in minivan, the new 2017 Pacifica Hybrid, comes with a range of high-tech features, allowing future owners to take full advantage of the efficient hybrid powertrain.
The PHEV minivan will feature the Uconnect Access app which delivers remote access to the vehicle’s technology, including checking the state of battery charge, along with the remaining driving range and an estimated time to full recharge.
The app can also send charge status updates, let owners know if their Pacifica Hybrid is plugged in and also schedule when they want it to charge. Other specific for the model features include the display of the locations of charging stations and their availability in real time.
The model’s Uconnect infotainment system also features a bespoke to the model Hybrid Electric Pages section which shows things like the power flow with a dynamic illustration on the 8.4-inch display. There’s also a day-by-day chart with the driving history of the car showing the distance driven in electric mode and hybrid mode. Charge scheduling is also there, allowing owners to schedule their car’s charging times and take advantage of the off-peak charging rates.
Another unique feature of the new Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid is the model-specific 7-inch color cluster display; this changes color to indicate whether the car runs on electric power only (teal) or hybrid (blue), with both the battery and fuel level always displayed.
There is also the ‘efficiency coach’ mode in the cluster display which guides the driver to drive more efficiently and maximise the time spent in battery mode. This works by showing the driver how to modulate the throttle in order to optimize energy consumption under acceleration.
The new 2017 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid offers an all-electric range of 33 miles (53km) and an EPA fuel economy rating of 84MPGe. The hybrid powertrain is made out of a specially adapted version of the 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 paired to two electric motors via the company’s eFlite CVT. Chrysler claims that the 16kWh lithium-ion battery pack can be fully charged in as little as two hours using a 240-volt plug-in system.
Chrysler’s new PHEV is priced from $34,495, including the available $7,500 federal tax credit.
