Crash Tests
Despite facing the axe, the Chrysler 200 has somehow moved to the 2017MY, where it was awarded with a top score by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
The feds' five-star safety rating follows a Top Safety Pick+ scored from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) by the 2016 Chrysler 200 and only applies to the front-wheel drive variations of the car, as the AWD hasn't been tested.
"The Chrysler 200 remains an outstanding value for many reasons, mostly notably its superior performance in various safety tests", the brand's Marketing Director, Bruce Velisek, commented.
Priced from $22,115, excluding destination, the 2017 Chrysler 200 has several active safety systems, including the Full-speed Forward Collision Warning-Plus, which combines a camera with a radar sensor for increased object-detection protection and, if an impact is imminent, alerts the driver and applies the brakes on its own, to either fully stop the car or slow it down significantly.
In addition to this, FCA's mid-size sedan also benefits from a vehicle's body structure, which consists of high-strength steel for more than 60 percent, helping it maintain its integrity during collisions.
