In NHTSA Tests
Following the Top Safety Pick+ given by the IIHS earlier this year, the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica has qualified for NHTSA's five-star overall safety rating as well.
Tested by the agency's technicians in the frontal collision, side barrier impact, and side pole impact, the minivan has proved to be a safe choice for the driver and passengers. In fact, the only part that proved to be tricky was the rollover test, where it scored four stars.
The results were anticipated by the FCA Group, which claims to have conducted more than 8,500 simulated crashes and more than 80 full-vehicle impact before launching the car, proving that high-strength steel, which accounts for 72 percent of its structure, out of which more than half is 'advanced high-strength steel' (AHSS), was the best choice.
Additionally, besides a solid construction, the new Chrysler Pacifica also benefits from a wide range of safety and security features, with the automaker counting at least 100, including the lane departure warning, forward collision warning, and rearview camera. As for the vehicle's starting price, this sits at $28,595, without destination charges.
