For Montreux Jazz Festival
Jeep has teamed up with Garage Italia Customs once again, but this time, they haven't just worked up one show car (or truck): they've done three. And they each adopt a rather suitable theme to the jazz festival at which they've been presented in Montreux, Switzerland.
First up is the Cherokee Jazz, which takes its inspiration not from the Honda hatchback (otherwise known as the Fit) but from the guitar. Based on a Jeep Cherokee Limited with the 2.2-liter Multijet II diesel, it features a wood-grain wrap painted using a unique process with a fade effect from black to red. The interior received a similar treatment, clad in Foglizzo leather.
Joining the Cherokee is the Renegade Vinyl, based on a Trailhawk model with a detuned version of the same engine. It's inspired by the look of a record disc with a 3D-effect grooved double-wrap in electric blue. The grooved treatment was also applied to the black leather found inside with Alcantara trim.
Finally, Lapo Elkann's studio also worked up a Grand Cherokee called Score, with a shiny brass treatment on the upper bodywork and musical notes on the black background. It's based on the 75th anniversary edition JGC, with a larger diesel engine and a similar leather interior.
Created to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Montreux Jazz Festival, the trio are only the latest in a string of show cars created by one Elkann brother's company for the other's. They may not be to everyone's specific taste, but give you a further idea of the possibilities available to those looking for something more unique than stock.
